Most Aluminum Cans Are Eligible for CRV

You can check if an aluminum can is eligible for CRV (California Redemption Value) by looking at the top of the can. There will be a label that says “CA Redemption Value,” “California Cash Refund,” “CA CRV,” or “CA Cash Refund.” Find out where to redeem eligible beverage containers for CRV.

Rinse Out Before Recycling

Empty and rinse out aluminum cans before recycling them. Moisture and dirt contaminate recycling and can limit cans’ recyclability.

Do Not Crush

You do not need to flatten or crush beverage containers. If you’re using an automated reverse vending machine (RVM), keep the containers as they are, so the machine can recognize the container type. If you are weighing them, they can be brought in whole or flattened.
